Overview: "More Than Game: Game is a Tool, Not the Goal" explores the idea that while "game of the scene" can be a powerful tool for finding comedic patterns, it should not overshadow the deeper elements of improv like character, relationship, and story. Game-focused scenes can become formulaic, limiting spontaneity and emotional exploration or put an improviser in their head too much to remain present. In this workshop, we’ll examine how game can serve as a useful framework, but not the ultimate aim—allowing improvisers to stay open to more organic discoveries that enrich scenes, build stronger connections, and unlock a wider range of creative possibilities.
